Who would have though that a year after finishing my undergraduate and a few months after finally finishing my career course to be fully qualified for my job that I would be taking more online university courses. At least there is some great music to get me through my studies as always. Kathleen Edwards has established herself in the past decade as a formidable force in the indie music scene, but it wasn’t until “Change the Sheets” was featured as the Single of the Week that I discovered her. I knew I had to get the album when it came out, because that song was so fantastic. And that I did. It is a fantastic album, a great mix of folk and rock with amazing lyrics and vocals from Ottawa’s own Kathleen Edwards. Doing some research, it turns out she is also married to the front man of Bon Iver, just adding to her musical cred. Another favourite of mine of the album is “Chameleon/Comedian” and the whole album is great to relax to, but won’t put you to sleep. Check it out, give it a listen, and enjoy.

Sure As The Weather - Amos The Transparent
It’s been a really long day, and I’m in need of a pick me up. Oh, hello my favourite band’s most recent video. Give it a listen, pass it along, and do yourself a favour by seeing these guys play live. Two new EPs are already out as part of their upcoming LP. Pre-orders here: http://www.amosthetransparent.com/
I just picked up this album while Christmas shopping, and it is quite bizarre, but the perfect background music that you can also listen to on an attentive level. The band is called M83, they’re from France, and they make the music dreams are made of. And when I say dreams, I don’t mean “One day I dream to be a rock star.” I mean that stuff that happens to you when you go to sleep and enter a world that doesn’t make any sense except while you’re there. Which is probably why the album (or should I say DOUBLE ALBUM) is called “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming.” I also was listening to their previous album “Saturdays = Youth” while reading the Sandman Graphic Novel Series. Great music to get reading done, and it was the perfect soundtrack for a series about, well, dreams. So, I recommend the band, the album, the graphic novel series, and getting some sleep and having dreams of your own.

Bluff - Pilot Speed
A video from Pilot Speed’s Wooden Bones album, that kind of flew under the radar. My first time catching a glimpse of it, and I am impressed. Simple. yet beautiful.

I guess Todd Clark was listening to my request for new Pilot Speed music. Check out these 5 B-Sides from Wooden Bones. I definitely enjoyed them.
